My internship at the Baltimore Museum of Art was arranged as part of my Museum Education Program experience. It was an opportunity to bring my experiences and skills to a new environment- the art museum- and gain exposure to the art museum approach. I worked on the following projects at the BMA: • Develop pre-visit materials for new tours; update existing pre-visit materials for older tours. I am creating all of these in web-based format, which can also make navigation easier when burned to CD-ROM. • I wrote and began conducting evaluation of several tours as well as seeking feedback from Museum visitors who do not take tours. This information will empower the Museum to better adapt its offerings to its audience, and to attract a wider audience. • Reach out to community organizations that work with Alzheimer's patients as part of planning a pilot program for this audience. • Assist in a transcription project to better make Museum tours accessible. I also developed program ideas for tours focusing on experiencing art with one's hands, rather than eyes. • Research programming for the 0-5 age group and offer suggestions for reaching out to this audience. |
